Hello everybody! Welcome to the scavenger hunt here at Identiverse 2024, my name is Adam, CIO and co-founder of Nyedis, and we put this on for one simple reason: We want to have fun! And we want everyone else to have as much fun as we are. So, we are hosting a private party Wednesday night here in Las Vegas, and it is going to be the best party in all of Vegas. Why? Because, we’re awesome. This isn’t just gonna be like, oh, we have an ice luge. No, our party is going to be rad, I promise–look at me. These are the prizes we’re giving away for the scavenger hunt. We’re giving away real weapons. You know anyone else doing that? Probably not. Because, they’re lame, and we’re not. So, here’s the deal! To get the invite to the party, you need to complete the scavenger hunt. We have placed a thousand of these poker chips all around the convention center, which I’m assuming you’ve already found one, because you’re here at the first clue. I highly recommend that if you have a poker chip that taps, you might want to hold on to that, you’re gonna need that later. We have a bunch of riddles and clues that you’ve gotta solve, you’re gonna need to work with teams, you can form clans, and there’s really awesome prizes that you can win. You have little prizes that you win as you solve the clues and go through the scavenger hunt, and then also we’re keeping track of points. So every clue is worth ten points. For every incorrect yes, you lose a point, so maximum ten points per clue. Can’t figure it out? We’ll kind of guide you to the next clue and move forward from there. We have a leader board up at the top so you can always see who’s winning and how far everyone is, and also if you ever get stuck, at the very bottom is a thing “stuck,” click on that. And you can email us. Or, find me at the convention and ask me for help. But we’re gonna be giving away these awesome prizes based on the score that you have, so it’s important to try and get the highest score possible. Other people will be playing this scavenger hunt throughout the convention, obviously, so, ask around, get friends, get help, you’re allowed to work with other people. In fact, there are clues where you will have to work with other people playing the scavenger hunt to complete this. So, we highly encourage to get as many friends as you can to join in, it’s gonna be a ton of fun. You can only really look at the expo booths for so long, and you’re not really looking at all the talks, and you’re just kinda wasting time. Why waste time when you can be trying to solve really crazy cool puzzles and win prizes along the way, right?

For your first clue, here we go. The company’s data center has suffered a severe ransomware attack and we need your skills to recover the encrypted data. Your first challenge is to infiltrate the firewall that was compromised. The attackers used a username and password combo fortified by a captcha that they decoded using a Caesar cipher, without giving away too much…think about historical shifts in security. Your success in cracking this will get us through the first layer of security and on to the second clue.
